Property Tax Credit
1. Who is eligible?
If you are classified and taxed as a Commercial, Industrial or Railway property you are eligible to sign an application for the credit. The exclusions to the rule are apartments, nursing homes and manufactured home parks. The apartments, nursing homes, and manufactured home parks will receive an increased rollback to reduce their taxable values in years to come starting in 2015.
2. Where can I sign up for the credit?
Any eligible Commercial property owner can stop down to the City Assessor’s office on 1st floor of the courthouse to sign up for the application.
3. What is the deadline for the credit?
The credit needs to be applied for by January 15, 2014.
4. What year should I put in the Year Applicable?
The application is for the 2013 year.
5. How much is the credit worth?
The credit is estimated to be worth between $300 and $500 depending on how many qualified applicants there are.
6. Do I need to bring anything to sign up?
You should have knowledge on how the properties are titled or the location address for the properties.
7. Can I get more than one credit?
Yes. There are a number of variables in the determination of credits that is why we are asking you to stop in to sign up.
8. When will I see this show up on my tax bill?
The tax credit will show up on your tax bill starting in the fall of 2014.
